Biodiesel Washing Equipment

Manual and Automated Purabio Systems

The PuraBio (PB) units have been designed to be integrated seamlessly into your Biodiesel system to purify biodiesel after the bulk of the glycerine has been removed either by settling for 12 hours, or by centrifugation giving <500ppm glycerine. The process uses 400 litre per hour, manual Purabio towerPuraBio ion exchange resin which efficiently removes dissolved contaminants such as residual base catalyst, soaps, metal ions as the biodiesel passes through. We recommend that your feedstock oil be filtered to at least 20 microns and ideally down to 1 micron to prevent particles getting carried downstream to the PuraBio units and filters.

Two sets of stations are recommended; one before and one after methanol recovery. The first station serves to remove dissolved glycerine and soaps, the second acts more as a polisher and removes residual salts, metal ions etc. There performance can be monitored by measuring conductivity and pH.

PB units are available in both manual and automated configurations. Automated units will carry out periodic draining & back flushing to facilitate methanol stripping of resin. This removes bound glycerine from the first towers and while this takes place the other towers continue to process biodiesel with minimum disruption of process flow.

For manual systems it is recommended that the first bank of towers be monitored for glycerine breakthrough and /or flushed at regular intervals (e.g twice a week) with methanol.

The PB units are designed for their respective biodiesel processors & can process at a maximum rate of 1 batch of biodiesel per hour; the PB400 can process at a maximum rate of 400 litres per hour PB800 at 800lph, PB1600 at 1600lph, PB2400 at 2400lph and PB3200 at 3200 lph.

The PB100/PB400 is supplied with male quick release valves for ease of connection. Each of the 4 bottles is supplied with a fine particle filter to ensure no resin particles can escape from the system.
